What is an Athlete?
Many people believe an athlete is someone who can play multiple sports; however, an athlete is a person who is proficient in a sport and/or other forms of physical exercise. Now that we understand and know the definition of what an athlete is, let's talk about the different levels of athletes. While you read this, please be honest and real with yourself on where you stand as an athlete. The first step to growth is acknowledging where you are currently and recognizing what you need to do in order to progress yourself to where you want to be.
Level 1 Athlete:
Level one athlete, also known as the force and/or goofball players. These are the athletes who don’t take the sport seriously because they just want to have fun or their parents force them to play. The kids who want to just have fun are the ones who truly love to play and make friends on the field. They typically have an average or low level of athletic ability, but some may even have tremendous talent; however, they do not take the game seriously resulting in the lack of that talent being used. These players also miss practices often, do not practice on their own, and do not play in games often. If this is you or your child, that is completely fine but if you want better for them or yourself then continue to read below to see how you can get to the next level as an athlete!
Level 2 Athlete:
Level two athletes, also known as talented/competitive players. These are the athletes who love to play and compete in their sport! They want to be the best in their positions and win the championship but some of them will rely on their talent alone. They have average to an upper level of athletic skills; however, they have a close mindset believing they know everything preventing them from truly growing as an athlete to reach their full potential. These are the athletes who do show up to practice, games, and will practice on there own every once in a while but only when they feel good. If this is you or your child, that is completely fine but if you want better for them or yourself then continue to read below to see how you can get to the next level as an athlete!
Level 3 Athlete:
Level three athletes, also known as the coachable players. These are the athletes who love to play, learn, and grow as a player. These are athletes who are of all levels of athletic ability and apply what they learned. However, 90% of the time these athletes do not have a competitive mindset preventing them from reaching their full potential. These athletes always put in the work and practices consistently regardless of how they feel. They are always at practices and games too! If this is you or your child, that is completely fine but if you want better for them or yourself then continue to read below to see how you can get to the next level as an athlete!
Level 4 Athlete:
Level four athletes, also known as coachable and competitive players. These are the athletes who love to play, learn, grow, and compete as a player! These are the dangerous athletes because they are actively learning and growing as athletes, plus they apply what they learned too! Lastly, they love to compete, which allows these athletes to dominate and reach their full potential! These are the athletes who put in the work, always at practice, show up to every game to compete consistently! This is where you want yourself or your child to get to. It is not an easy road. it takes confidence and a great support group behind these athletes to reach this level of competitiveness, dedication, and consistency. No matter what level you may be at currently we strongly believe every athlete has the ability to reach level four!
Now the real question is, what level of an athlete are you and what are you going to do today to get yourself closer to your next level as an athlete and individual. What do you need to commit to more of so you can get to the next level?
